U WHO??? SS
I grew up in Hood River, Oregon, with my parents and younger sister. It's a small town about an hour east of Portland on the Columbia River Gorge. It's a really beautiful, fun place to grow up. My sister is finishing her senior year at Oregon State University, then hopefully she will be joining me here in Salt Lake to pursue a career in physical therapy.
I came to Utah in September of 2017 to visit friends and fell in love with the people and mountains. I knew I had to move here right away. I started at the U of U Redstone clinic in October 2018 prior to transferring to the Orthopaedic Center.
I am happily single, so for you mom’s out there don’t set me up with your son’s. I spend most of my free time cooking, skiing, hiking, camping and most recently I have enjoyed mountain biking.
Something that few people know about me is: I found out that I don’t know how to swallow drinks correctly. I accidentally inhaled a sip of Margarita and ended up in the ED having to be cardioverted. For those who do not know what this is, cardioversion is a procedure of treating an irregular, uneven heartbeat. This procedure is done by placing electrodes on the patient and delivering shocks the heart to restore normal heart rhythm. Sounds painful and it was.
I was with Best Buddies from September 2018 for one year. I was paired up with buddies that have mental disabilities and we would do activities together. This was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. I was able to meet with some very bright and kind-hearted individuals. This experience gave me a more positive outlook on the world especially in the face of adversity, so many other people are likely experiencing worse things than I ever will.
What is your nickname? While working in Hood River on a Hawaiian food truck my boss called me SarBear. Within weeks the whole town was calling me SarBear or Bear for short.
If you have not guessed already I am Sarah Scarborough, I work with Dr English in Non-op sports.
