Before you hit 'send' on that email there are a few things you should keep in mind.

Protecting patient information is critical. But did you know that all your /university/Outlook/edu emails are considered University of Utah property and can be retrieved, examined, and used in a court of law. 

Even if you deleted it a long time ago.

This is why we must always keep subjects and contents of all emails on a professional level, because your work email is NOT private.

In addition to protecting the patients confidentiality, we must also think of protecting ourselves and our center.

They say you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Perhaps you should write emails from the same point of view. 

Take a step back. Look at what you've written. Edit accordingly. 

THEN hit that 'send' button.
