Be Ready UUOC! June
The Orthopaedic Center presents the UUOC Disaster Skills Day on June 7th. We are continuing to provide direction for our staff including adding to their Emergency Preparedness Kit(s).
Since facilities for hygiene may be very limited after a major disaster, we are making this the item to add to your kit for June.
JUNE: Emergency Sanitation and Hygiene
WHO: You and your Family.
WHAT: Basic personal hygiene supplies: Toilet paper,
liquid soap, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, wash cloth, toothbrush/toothpaste.
WHERE: Amazon ,Costco, WalMart
WHEN: Now! Or tomorrow or next time you are at the
store or ordering online.
WHY: The lack of sanitation facilities following a
major disaster can quickly create secondary problems unless basic guidelines
are followed. If water lines are damaged, or if damage is suspected do not
flush the toilet. Avoid digging holes in the ground and using these. Untreated
raw sewage can pollute fresh group water supplies. It also attracts flies and
promotes the spread of disease.
