Bright Ideas Put into Practice!

At the University of Utah Orthopaedic Center we have instituted a “Bright Ideas” program to allow anyone to submit an idea on how we can improve operations. This means anything from being more efficient to improving the patient experience.

One perfect example of an idea that was brought to the attention of management was having a remote for the front door so that the staff at the reception desk could open the door for patients if they were unable to physically get to the door before the patient that needed help (on the phone, with another patient, etc).

Case and point, our amazing Tammie Blankenship took this Bright Idea to the management and Poof! They installed the remote program for her. Now she, or anyone at the front desk, can assist patients coming at the door whenever the need arises.

This is just one more way the UOC can serve patients better and it came from the front lines of our staff.

From the hand sanitization station outside of the cafeteria to the recycle bins and book drives, we are constantly looking to enhance the work environment in the direction that improves the center for all.

What Bright Ideas do you have for your area?

Let your supervisor or manager know!
