Dear Colleagues:

Happy Holidays! As we enter this year’s holiday season we hope you’ll take a moment to participate in our annual food drive for the Utah Food Bank. We started the food drive last year and heard such positive feedback that we’ve decided to make it an annual tradition. It’s a chance for us to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of Utah families who are struggling this season.

Last year, University of Utah Health Care and Health Sciences employees donated more than 50,000 lbs. of food to the Utah Food Bank. This year, our goal is 100,000 lbs. We’re confident that we can hit this mark and encourage you to review the ways you can participate in this important effort. You can find more detailed information on Intercomm (at www.intercomm.utah.edu).

Bring Food

In the next few days you’ll receive a grocery bag in the mail. We encourage you to fill your bag with food and drop it off in the soup can bins at University of Utah Health Care locations starting on Dec. 10. The last day to drop off food will be Dec. 22.

Volunteer Your Time

Give your time with fellow co-workers on designated University of Utah Health Care days/nights at the Utah Food Bank. See the dates on Intercomm and then contact Lori Tavey at 801-581-7660 to reserve your spot.

Donate Money

Visit https://www.utahfoodbank.org/uuhc to make a secure online donation to the food bank. Every dollar helps the food bank buy two pounds of food for hungry Utahns.

Buy Bean Soup

A $5 donation buys a delicious 8-bean soup mix, and all proceeds go directly to the food bank. The soup makes a great holiday gift. The soup mix can be purchased at the University Hospital gift shop, the University Hospital cafeteria, the Ortho CafĂ© at the University Orthopaedics Center, the Komas ITS Deli, The Bistro at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, and at UNI.

We’ve had a remarkable year at University of Utah Health Care.  We encourage you to mark that success by participating in this year’s food drive. Again, Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

Lorris Betz, David Bjorkman and David Entwistle
